About Sam Kittner
I liken my image making to storytelling, "spinning yarns" as folks in rocking chairs on front porches often call it; telling stories engagingly through a photograph in a personal, immediate way interwoven within the underlying context of the big world around us. Visual food for thought that has a story, is a story, and can be made into many stories all at once.
In addition to my commercial work my Documentary and Fine Art Prints have been displayed at venues including:
- Corcoran Gallery of Art
- Environmental Protection Agency
- Peninsula Fine Arts Center
- Smithsonian Museum of Natural History
- Smithsonian Museum of American History
- Dulles International Airport
- in the journal Aperture
I make photographs which record, communicate and celebrate remarkable people and their work.
- Portraits and coverage of determined scientists, artists, media, business leaders, and people from all walks of life
- Onsite construction and manufacturing images
- Architectural images of buildings and related landscapes
- Panoramas that dynamically portray perspective and relationships
Photo District News (PDN) recognized my photograph shot for a Sprint billboard advertisement as an "advertising campaign from around the world that caught our eye" in 2008. PDN also recognized one of my Washington, DC panoramas for digital imaging excellence that year. My new panoramic work led to a feature article with a double-gatefold in the April 2008 Washingtonian magazine.
